Architecture Research Software Lead

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Architecture Research Software Lead. Location: Multiple Countries

Responsibilities:

• Lead the vision and development of quantum simulation tools for prototyping and benchmarking architecture
• Improve scalability and performance across the quantum computing stack, especially logical layers
• Design tools supporting logical circuits, layouts, protocols, and error-correction codes
• Simulate large-scale quantum systems under realistic noise conditions;
• Manage research software developers, engineers, and project coordinators
• Collaborate with cross-functional quantum architecture and research teams
• Initiate new projects and enhance existing tooling

Qualifications:

• MSc or PhD in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Strong experience with quantum error correction (QEC) tools and workflows
• Proven experience leading teams or coordinating technical projects
• Strong programming skills in Python and object-oriented design;
• Experience with high-performance computing and parallelized systems
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices including testing, CI, version control, and documentation
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills for complex technical concepts

Preferred:

• PhD or postdoctoral experience in quantum physics or quantum technology
• Familiarity with public QEC tools and ecosystems
• Experience with low-level programming languages like C or C++
• Knowledge of measurement-based quantum computation (MBQC);
• Familiarity with optical quantum systems and continuous-variable models such as GKP code
