Quantum Design Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Design Engineer. Location: Delft, Netherlands

Job Type: Full-time, on-site (hybrid flexibility)

Responsibilities:

• Design and simulate advanced quantum hardware to improve performance, coherence, and scalability
• Develop manufacturable device architectures for high-fidelity qubit chips
• Architect and optimize nonreciprocal superconducting circuits such as parametric amplifiers
• Work on layout, frequency allocation, crosstalk management, and interconnect strategies
• Correlate simulation results with experimental data to improve iterative designs;
• Collaborate with experimentalists to improve design-to-test cycles
• Automate design workflows using Python for simulation sweeps and data processing

Qualifications:

• MSc in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 2+ years experience OR PhD with hands-on research experience
• Strong experience in Python programming for simulation and data analysis
• Experience with EM simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS-Q3D or KLayout
• Familiarity with Git and quantum chip design tools (Qiskit Metal is a plus);
• Understanding of microwave engineering, fabrication methods, and quantum noise

Preferred:

• Experience with superconducting quantum circuits (cQED systems)
• Experience designing parametric amplifiers or nonreciprocal superconducting devices
• Knowledge of advanced readout techniques for quantum systems;
• Strong understanding of scalable quantum processor architecture
• Experience working in iterative hardware design environments
