Quantum Design Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Design Engineer. Location: Delft, Netherlands

Job Type: Full-time, on-site (hybrid flexibility possible)

Responsibilities:

• Design and simulate advanced quantum hardware to improve performance, coherence, and scalability
• Develop manufacturable device architectures to increase qubit fidelity and yield
• Design and optimize nonreciprocal superconducting circuits, including parametric amplifiers
• Work on readout chain improvements to enhance signal-to-noise ratio and stability;
• Interpret simulation results and align them with experimental data for iterative improvements
• Collaborate with experimentalists and device engineers in rapid design-to-test cycles
• Automate design workflows using Python, including simulation sweeps and data processing

Qualifications:

• MSc or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 2+ years of industry or hands-on R&D experience (or equivalent PhD research experience)
• Strong experience in Python programming for simulation and automation;
• Experience with EM simulation and chip design tools (Ansys HFSS-Q3D, KLayout preferred)
• Understanding of microwave engineering, quantum noise, and fabrication methods
• Knowledge of cQED systems and superconducting circuits is highly preferred

Preferred:

• Experience designing superconducting quantum circuits or parametric amplifiers
• Familiarity with Qiskit Metal or similar quantum design frameworks
• Experience in cryogenic quantum hardware environments;
• Strong background in device modeling and simulation validation with experimental feedback
