Technical Engagement Manager, Algorithms

Job Description

Job Title: Technical Engagement Manager, Algorithms and Applications. Location: Toronto, Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate new commercial and strategic opportunities across multiple industries
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of potential customer and partner engagements
  • Present quantum algorithms and applications capabilities to prospective customers and partners
  • Translate complex research into clear business value propositions tailored to customer needs;
  • Lead proposal development, including technical scoping, proposal writing, pricing, and engagement structuring
  • Manage contract negotiations and support partnership agreements
  • Present to senior technical and business leaders, including C-suite executives, CTO offices, and research directors
  • Oversee project delivery, including kickoff activities, milestone tracking, and stakeholder communication
  • Build long-term customer relationships and identify opportunities for account growth and engagement renewal
  • Collaborate with algorithms, legal, and finance teams to ensure proposals are technically and commercially sound
  • Track and report key business metrics, including opportunities, proposals, win rates, contract value, and customer satisfaction

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing, applied research, consulting, business development, or research collaboration role
  • Proven success in securing funded proposals, contracts, partnerships, or business opportunities;
  • Experience writing proposals, defining project scope, and negotiating commercial or institutional agreements
  • Strong ability to translate advanced technical research into industry-relevant solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to engage effectively with both research scientists and senior business executives
  • Comfortable presenting to executive leadership and enterprise stakeholders

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Familiarity with quantum computing, quantum algorithms, optimization, simulation, or machine learning
  • Experience in industries such as financial services, aerospace and defense, energy, semiconductors, or life sciences
  • Experience pricing and structuring professional services or research collaboration agreements;
  • Existing relationships with research, innovation, or technology leaders at major organizations
  • Experience working in startups or high-growth technology companies
  • Familiarity with intellectual property considerations in collaborative research environments
