Job Title: Data Engineer – IBM Quantum. Location:

Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines supporting analytics, operational dashboards, and quantum hardware performance insights
- Develop and operate ETL/ELT workflows with a focus on data quality, accuracy, and reliability
- Build scalable data connectors for IBM Quantum's Lakehouse platform
- Write and optimize SQL queries using PostgreSQL and Presto
- Build and maintain workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow;
- Implement data transformation and validation using Python and related libraries
- Support batch processing for large-scale datasets, including telemetry, experiment metadata, cloud operations, and device performance metrics
- Develop streaming data solutions using Apache Kafka or IBM Event Streams
- Integrate quantum hardware telemetry, calibration data, experiment logs, job execution data, user activity, and system health metrics into trusted analytical datasets
- Collaborate with quantum hardware, software, SRE, analytics, and product teams to deliver production-ready data solutions
- Use Git-based version control, code reviews, and software engineering best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required
- Master's degree preferred
- Experience designing and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines
- Strong SQL skills using PostgreSQL and Presto
- Experience with Apache Airflow workflow orchestration;
- Proficiency in Python for data transformation and validation
- Experience processing large-scale operational and telemetry datasets
- Experience with Apache Kafka or similar streaming platforms
- Experience using Git and collaborative software development practices
Preferred:
- Experience with Lakehouse architectures, including IBM watsonx.data
- Experience with Presto, Trino, or Apache Spark
- Knowledge of analytical data modeling techniques
- Understanding of data governance, lineage, and lifecycle management
- Experience operating cloud-based or distributed data pipelines
- Experience working with hardware telemetry and infrastructure monitoring data
- Interest or experience in quantum computing, advanced hardware systems, or cryogenics
