Job Description
Job Title: Process Integration Engineer - SNSPD Nanofabrication. Location: Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada
Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize fabrication processes for Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detectors (SNSPDs) used in photonic quantum computing hardware.
- Expand cleanroom process development capabilities at Sherbrooke's 3IT Nanofabrication Facility.
- Perform cleanroom fabrication, thin-film characterization, and metrology to improve detector performance.
- Collaborate with foundry partners to transition fabrication processes into high-volume manufacturing;
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure detector performance meets critical technical requirements.
- Develop cleanroom process recipes and maintain detailed process documentation.
- Analyze fabrication data and support continuous process improvements.
- Travel as required.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering, Experimental Sciences, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in cleanroom process development focused on device fabrication.
- Experience operating cleanroom equipment, including photolithography, electron beam lithography, PVD, CVD, ICP RIE, AFM, SEM, and ellipsometry.
- Knowledge of optical thin-film metrology, characterization, and optimization.
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- 2+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience.
- Experience with CMP for thin-film and multi-layer device planarization.
- Experience transferring fabrication processes from laboratory to manufacturing.
- Understanding of superconducting devices and optical detector technologies.
- Experience with cryogenic detectors such as TES, MKID, or SNSPDs.
- Experience writing Python code.
- Experience analyzing large datasets and producing statistical reports.
