Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Algorithm Theorist. Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States

Responsibilities:

  • Design novel and efficient quantum algorithms for scientifically and practically meaningful problems
  • Develop algorithms optimized for fault-tolerant quantum computers
  • Analyze and demonstrate quantum speedups using computational complexity theory and comparisons with classical methods
  • Collaborate with compiler, error correction, and hardware research teams to optimize algorithms for early fault-tolerant architectures
  • Publish research findings in leading peer-reviewed journals and present at major scientific conferences;
  • Collaborate with academic researchers and contribute to the advancement of quantum algorithms research

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. (completed or near completion) in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated research experience in designing and analyzing quantum algorithms
  • Proven record of independent theoretical research and original scientific contributions;
  • Strong foundation in quantum information theory, computational complexity, and linear algebra
  • Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language

Preferred:

  • Strong publication record in high-impact journals and top-tier conferences
  • Experience serving as a reviewer or technical program committee member for quantum computing or theoretical computer science conferences and journals
  • Postdoctoral research experience or extensive graduate research focused on quantum algorithms or quantum complexity theory

  • Annual salary of $120,000 to $205,000
