  • Design and simulate superconducting qubits and multi-qubit circuits focusing on coherence, fidelity, and intrinsic error resilience
  • Develop new architectures that reduce reliance on external error correction by embedding protection at the design level
  • Analyze and benchmark decoherence mechanisms, minimizing loss, noise sensitivity, and crosstalk in circuit geometries;
  • Extend design workflows using electromagnetic solvers such as Ansys HFSS or similar tools combined with circuit-level simulations
  • Collaborate closely with fabrication and measurement engineers to translate designs into manufacturable quantum devices
  • Iterate rapidly between simulation, fabrication, and measurement to improve device performance
  • Document results and analyze experimental feedback to continuously refine designs

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or MSc with significant industry experience
  • 3+ years of experience in superconducting quantum circuit design, including qubit layout, coupling, and signal routing
  • Strong understanding of decoherence mechanisms and transmission line theory;
  • Experience with RF and microwave components in quantum systems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Preferred:

  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS, Sonnet, or similar
  • Strong Python programming experience for simulation and modeling
  • Experience designing coupling architectures and signal routing for multi-qubit systems;
  • Familiarity with fabrication and measurement workflows in quantum hardware development
  • Experience working in cross-functional research and engineering environments

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Competitive compensation with additional benefits
  • Relocation support
  • Corporate fitness programs and health benefits
  • Opportunity to define early-stage quantum hardware architecture roadmap
  • Work in a leading European quantum research and innovation hub in Munich region

Other Information:

  • Mission-driven role focused on error-protected quantum processor design
  • Designs move quickly from simulation to fabrication to measurement
  • Strong emphasis on collaboration across design, fabrication, and experimental teams
