Job Description

Job Title: Research Intern, PhD, Summer 2027. Location:

Job Type: Full-time internship, 12 to 14 weeks

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a research agenda.
  • Contribute to a productive and innovative research team.
  • Work with peers, managers, and partner teams.
  • Conduct experiments and develop prototype implementations;
  • Research and solve technical challenges across areas including artificial intelligence, machine perception, data mining, machine learning, natural language understanding, privacy, computer architecture, networking, operating systems, storage, data management, and quantum information science.
  • Contribute to research that can influence product development and technology used at large scale.
  • Participate in research communities and contribute to academic or open-source efforts where applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related technical field;
  • Experience in at least one area of computer science, such as Natural Language Understanding, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Algorithmic Foundations of Optimization, Quantum Information Science, Data Science, Software Development, or a similar area.
  • English proficiency is required.
  • Candidates must be located in Canada for the duration of the internship.

Preferred:

  • Currently attending a degree program in Canada.
  • Available to work full-time for 12 weeks outside university term time.
  • In the penultimate academic year or returning to a degree program after completing the internship.
  • Research experience through internships, full-time research, or laboratory work.
  • Experience contributing to research communities or efforts, including publishing papers at major conferences or journals.
  • Experience with general-purpose programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C, or C++.
