Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer. Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop custom electronic boards for photonic quantum computers
  • Develop analog and digital electronics for controlling and acquiring data from quantum photonic devices
  • Build, test, optimize, and debug electronic modules that interface with sensitive optoelectronic instruments
  • Design and implement low-noise analog and mixed-signal circuits;
  • Develop electronic control architecture for photonic quantum computing systems
  • Work closely with physicists and engineers to improve hardware performance and reliability
  • Perform hands-on laboratory testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electronic systems

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 5 years of industry or academic experience in a relevant field;
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
  • 8+ years of combined academic and industry experience, including at least 3 years in industry
  • Experience with ADC/DAC data acquisition and analog control systems
  • Experience using RF test equipment such as VNAs, ESAs, and AWGs;
  • Experience designing PCBs for low-noise analog and digital control systems
  • Knowledge of electrical noise sources and mitigation techniques, including EMI shielding and noise cancellation
  • Experience designing interfaces between custom instruments and FPGA-based control systems
  • Familiarity with DSP techniques
  • Knowledge of communication protocols including Ethernet, USB, I2C, and SPI
  • Experience with CMOS, TTL, and differential signaling
  • Experience using Altium, KiCad, or similar PCB design software
  • Familiarity with optics, photonics, photodiodes, modulators, lasers, and fiber optic components

  • Annual base salary of CAD $140,000 to $180,000
