Job Description
Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer. Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop custom electronic boards for photonic quantum computers
- Develop analog and digital electronics for controlling and acquiring data from quantum photonic devices
- Build, test, optimize, and debug electronic modules that interface with sensitive optoelectronic instruments
- Design and implement low-noise analog and mixed-signal circuits;
- Develop electronic control architecture for photonic quantum computing systems
- Work closely with physicists and engineers to improve hardware performance and reliability
- Perform hands-on laboratory testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electronic systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
- At least 5 years of industry or academic experience in a relevant field;
- Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred:
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
- 8+ years of combined academic and industry experience, including at least 3 years in industry
- Experience with ADC/DAC data acquisition and analog control systems
- Experience using RF test equipment such as VNAs, ESAs, and AWGs;
- Experience designing PCBs for low-noise analog and digital control systems
- Knowledge of electrical noise sources and mitigation techniques, including EMI shielding and noise cancellation
- Experience designing interfaces between custom instruments and FPGA-based control systems
- Familiarity with DSP techniques
- Knowledge of communication protocols including Ethernet, USB, I2C, and SPI
- Experience with CMOS, TTL, and differential signaling
- Experience using Altium, KiCad, or similar PCB design software
- Familiarity with optics, photonics, photodiodes, modulators, lasers, and fiber optic components
Benefits and Compensation:
- Annual base salary of CAD $140,000 to $180,000
