Advanced Interconnect Lead, Quantum AI. Location: Santa Barbara, California, USA

Salary and Compensation:

  • $188,000 to $274,000 per year
  • 20% target bonus

  • Individual compensation depends on relevant skills, experience, education, and training.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the growing advanced interconnect technology team.
  • Develop advanced integration technologies for cryogenic microwave devices and superconducting quantum components.
  • Identify, scope, and purchase tools required for technology development, including materials and processes.
  • Evaluate the capabilities and limitations of newly developed technologies;
  • Lead technical projects with academic and industrial partners to develop and implement external technologies.
  • Document newly developed processes and technologies and transfer them to internal or external production.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously using experience in silicon, printed circuit board (PCB), and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) technologies.
  • Apply engineering judgment and technical knowledge to improve superconducting quantum hardware performance and support increasing qubit counts according to the company's roadmap.
  • Develop vendor and industry partnerships to advance technical capabilities and meet quantum computing milestones.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field such as Optics, Sensors, or Audio/DSP, or equivalent practical experience;
  • At least 6 years of experience in technology and process research and development involving MEMS, PCB, or silicon technologies.
  • At least 3 years of technical leadership experience.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, including Optics, Sensors, or Audio/DSP.
  • Experience with a scripting or programming language.
  • Experience with materials and integration technologies for electronics operating in extreme environments.
  • Experience in microwave engineering.
