Job Title: Hardware Development Engineer, AWS CQC- Fab. Location: Pasadena, CA, USA

This role focuses on semiconductor process development with strong emphasis on quantum processor fabrication and advanced lithography techniques; You will work in cleanroom and lab environments to support AWS’s mission of delivering cloud-based quantum computing services to customers worldwide.

Duties:

• Develop, improve, and sustain semiconductor fabrication processes for quantum processors.
• Perform photolithography using direct write systems, mask aligners, and DUV or iLine steppers.
• Analyze inline metrology data and inspection results to improve fabrication yield and quality.
• Characterize fabricated devices and support prototype development;
• Collaborate with project leads to provide feedback that improves fabrication workflows.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams in fabrication, characterization, and engineering.
• Follow safety, quality, and cleanroom protocols while working on sensitive hardware systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in hardware design, validation, or fabrication environments.
• Strong background in semiconductor process development and photolithography techniques.
• Experience working in cleanroom environments and handling fabrication tools;
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Linux bash.
• Understanding of hardware and software integration across the full development lifecycle.
• Experience with direct write or maskless lithography in research or production settings is preferred.
