Job Description

Job Title: Intern, Quantum Algorithms and Compilation. Location

  • Palo Alto, California, United States
  • Remote option available

Responsibilities:

  • Develop quantum algorithms to solve impactful real-world problems.
  • Optimize commonly used subroutines in fault-tolerant quantum algorithms.
  • Compile quantum algorithms into logical gate sets.
  • Incorporate architecture-aware optimization techniques.
  • Estimate quantum computing resources.
  • Apply quantum computing to areas including chemistry, drug design, materials science, and fluid dynamics.
  • Work effectively as part of a highly collaborative team.
  • Approach technical problems creatively and adapt solutions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Currently studying toward, or have completed, a postgraduate degree related to quantum algorithms, quantum circuit compilation, fault tolerance, or another area of quantum computing.
  • Alternatively, have 5+ years of professional experience in one or more of these fields.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python.
  • Experience with collaborative software development tools such as Git.
  • Creative and adaptable approach to problem solving;
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team.
  • Prior experience in fault-tolerant quantum algorithms and quantum compilation is preferred.
  • Strong enthusiasm for quantum computing is essential.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • U.S. intern hourly rates depend on completed education level:
    • Bachelor’s degree in process: $27.50/hour
    • Bachelor’s degree: $31.00/hour
    • Master’s, 1st year: $36.00/hour
    • Master’s degree: $40.00/hour
    • PhD in process: $44.00/hour
    • PhD near completion: $47.00/hour
  • Housing/commuter stipend is variable based on permanent residency location.
