Lead Engineer, Lithography

Job Description

Job Title: Lead Engineer, Lithography. Location: Fremont, California, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as technical authority for lithography and patterning processes in quantum device fabrication
  • Develop and optimize lithography process frameworks including resist chemistry, beam interactions, and overlay control
  • Collaborate with electron-beam and optical lithography experts to improve device fabrication quality
  • Design and implement scalable process flows, SOPs, and technical manufacturing specifications;
  • Lead data-driven process control using statistical methods such as SPC, DOE, and root cause analysis
  • Manage lithography module development and support transition from R&D to production-scale manufacturing
  • Work closely with cleanroom fabrication teams under strict process and safety protocols

Qualifications:

  • PhD with 7+ years or MS with 10+ years of experience in lithography process development and integration
  • Degree in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong hands-on experience with lithography systems and resist chemistry;
  • Expertise in statistical process control (SPC), DOE, GR&R, and failure analysis methods
  • Experience in cleanroom-based fabrication environments
  • Ability to mentor engineers and manage complex technical programs

Preferred:

  • Experience with electron-beam lithography and proximity effect correction
  • Knowledge of DUV (KrF/ArF) or i-line lithography systems
  • Experience with MEMS, photonics, or quantum device fabrication
  • Familiarity with multi-layer resist stacks and sub-50nm alignment;
  • Experience optimizing lithography for high-topology or 3D surfaces
  • Background in transitioning lab processes into scalable production workflows
