Job Description
Job Title: Optics Technician. Location: Oxford, England, United Kingdom
Responsibilities:
- Support the optics team with quantum computer system builds, upgrades, and ongoing research projects.
- Provide hands-on support with optical, mechanical, and electrical assembly.
- Assist with the control and handling of parts used in quantum system sub-assemblies.
- Maintain a tidy and safe laboratory and workshop environment;
- Produce and maintain technical documentation.
- Work alongside engineers, scientists, and senior technicians to support the logistics and assembly of quantum systems.
Qualifications:
- Practical technical skills and experience in a similar technical or industrial environment.
- Approximately 3 years of relevant industrial operations experience.
- Experience following work instructions to complete advanced technical assembly tasks.
- Experience working in an assembly environment requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and ability to collaborate effectively within a technical team.
- An advanced modern apprenticeship (Level 3) in Engineering or equivalent industrial experience is desirable.
- Experience with fibre optics, optics, electronics, or vacuum systems;
- Experience assembling high-precision or delicate components.
- Experience handling optics and using lasers.
- Previous experience assembling and testing scientific instrumentation.
