Job Title: Product Designer Intern - 2027. Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, United States

Job Type:

• Internship, Co-Op (Fixed Term), Onsite
• General daytime shift
• No travel required

Responsibilities:

• Support the design team in creating digital, print, and presentation assets.
• Assist with concept development and visual design execution.
• Maintain brand consistency across projects.
• Collaborate with researchers, marketers, and designers;
• Contribute creative ideas throughout the design process.
• Develop content that communicates IBM Research innovations to global audiences.
• Work across IBM Research's strategic areas, including Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Hybrid Cloud, and Semiconductors.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and a strong eye for composition, typography, and layout.
• Fluency in interaction design and prototyping.
• Ability to independently drive design processes from discovery through launch while balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.
• Ability to use structured thinking and clearly communicate design rationale;
• Experience using user-centered research to guide decision-making.
• Experience researching, prototyping, or building products with AI and other emerging tools.

Preferred:

• Design and development hybrid background or experience building websites or applications.
• Experience with canvas-based interfaces or tools supporting creative workflows.
• Experience creating, maintaining, or contributing to design systems.

Benefits and Compensation:

• Projected minimum salary: $90,720 per year.
• Projected maximum salary: $166,320 per year.
• Eligible employees may receive up to 8 paid holidays and a minimum of 56 hours of paid sick time.

• Paid family medical leave and disability benefits may be available where required by applicable law.
• Compensation and benefits may be adjusted for part-time roles or employees starting during the calendar year.
