Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Software Developer - FTQC Software (Intermediate to Senior). Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and optimize quantum compilation and quantum error correction (QEC) infrastructure for scalable quantum workflows
- Transform theoretical advances in fault-tolerant quantum computing into production-ready software features;
- Translate quantum circuits into optimized intermediate and low-level representations that interface with hardware control system APIs
- Collaborate with Core, Compilation, Performance, Architecture, Hardware, and Research teams to develop advanced execution pipelines
- Maintain high standards for software development through documentation, testing, and code quality
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the quantum software ecosystem
Qualifications:
- MSc or PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Education or professional experience in quantum computing or quantum information
- Experience developing or extending quantum computing or QEC libraries;
- Ability to implement complex quantum error correction schemes in software
- Familiarity with quantum or classical compilation workflows and intermediate representations
- Strong programming experience in Python and C++
- Experience with software engineering best practices, including unit, integration, and system testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code reviews
- Ability to translate complex scientific or mathematical concepts into efficient software implementations
- Ability to learn advanced technical concepts quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- Research or industry experience focused on Quantum Error Correction (QEC) or Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing (FTQC)
- Knowledge of open-source QEC frameworks and libraries
- Experience developing or maintaining QEC software packages
- Experience with MLIR or LLVM compilation frameworks;
- Experience working with hardware control systems, FPGA interfaces, or low-level hardware instruction sets
- Experience designing or maintaining large-scale software platforms, APIs, or developer toolkits
- Contributions to open-source scientific libraries or quantum computing frameworks such as PennyLane or Catalyst
