Software Engineer, Applied Research

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, Quantum Applied Research. Location:Redmond, Washington - Santa Clara, California, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build scalable data platforms and interfaces that integrate quantum systems, simulation outputs, AI models, and application workflows
  • Develop agentic orchestration frameworks for modeling, prediction, and coordination across complex computing systems
  • Build synthetic data generation pipelines for training, validating, and evaluating AI-driven models;
  • Implement high-performance data pipelines, storage systems, and APIs for low-latency, high-throughput workloads
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Applied Research teams to develop reliable and scalable software systems
  • Translate domain-specific models and system signals into efficient software solutions for accelerated computing

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade software systems
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems and data engineering;
  • Working knowledge of quantum computing concepts and ability to collaborate with quantum researchers
  • Hands-on experience with Python, C++, Go, APIs, distributed services, and modern data platforms
  • Strong software engineering practices, including testing, CI/CD, observability, and performance optimization

Preferred:

  • Experience developing scientific simulation or modeling platforms
  • Experience building synthetic data pipelines or supporting AI/ML workflows at scale
  • Familiarity with agentic systems, orchestration frameworks, or AI-driven automation
  • Experience with quantum hardware, control systems, or performance modeling
  • Experience with GPU acceleration, CUDA, or high-performance computing environments

Benefits And Compensation:

  • Annual base salary of USD $184,000 to $287,500 (Level 4) or USD $224,000 to $356,500 (Level 5), depending on experience and location
  • Eligibility for equity compensation and employee benefits
