Job Description

Job Title: Staff Software Engineer, Databases. Location: Palo Alto, California, United States / Remote

Responsibilities:

• Design and scale high-performance graph database systems for quantum computing infrastructure
• Extend database architecture to support large-scale distributed quantum systems
• Build and maintain scalable distributed storage and control systems;
• Participate in software design reviews and code reviews
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and research teams across the organization
• Perform testing, debugging, and maintenance of database software
• Promote strong software engineering and development practices;
• Support orchestration and control systems for fault-tolerant quantum systems

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience with Python or C++ in system software development
• Experience designing and implementing distributed storage systems
• Strong background in graph databases and scalable software infrastructure;
• Proven ability to develop reliable, high-performance software in mission-critical environments
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience

Preferred:

• Experience with graph database platforms such as Neo4j or Nebula
• Experience with high-performance computing and scalable data systems
• Knowledge of computer architecture and distributed networking;
• Experience building highly available distributed systems with strong uptime requirements
• PhD in a related technical field is a plus
• Experience working in quantum computing or advanced computing environments

Benefits and Compensation:

• Base salary range: $180,000 – $205,000 USD
• Bay Area salary range: $200,000 – $220,000 USD
