Staff Cloud Platform Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Staff Cloud Platform Engineer. Location: Sydney, Australia (Hybrid)

Responsibilities:

• Design and evolve Q-CTRL’s cloud platform that powers quantum modeling and GPU-accelerated workloads
• Lead platform architecture decisions and define long-term cloud engineering strategy aligned with company goals
• Build and maintain Kubernetes-based infrastructure that is scalable, reliable, and secure
• Define and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, and developer workflows;
• Set standards for multi-cloud architecture, high availability systems, and cloud-agnostic deployment patterns
• Mentor engineers across teams and establish best practices across the organization
• Drive DevOps adoption and engineering maturity initiatives
• Stay current with modern cloud and platform technologies
• Perform other duties aligned with skills and experience, with reasonable training

Qualifications:

• 7 or more years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or site reliability engineering
• Strong production experience with Kubernetes and cluster operations
• Deep knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Hands-on experience with Linux systems and troubleshooting;
• Strong programming skills with the ability to understand complex codebases, especially Python, Go, or JavaScript
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proactive mindset focused on building systems the right way

Qualifications:

• Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKAD, or CKS
• Public cloud certifications such as AWS or GCP
• Familiarity with CNCF projects
• Experience with GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux CD
