System Architect, Quantum Networking

Job Description

Job Title: System Architect, Quantum Networking. Location: Berlin, Germany; Daresbury, United Kingdom; Leiden, Netherlands; Remote

The role includes developing internal tools, modelling networked quantum systems, analyzing information flow, and collaborating with technical teams to shape the first truly scalable quantum computers.

Duties:

• Contribute to the long-term system architecture and software roadmap for PsiQuantum’s upcoming quantum systems.
• Maintain and update graph-based models representing the architecture of quantum data center systems;
• Analyze classical and quantum information flow within networked architectures that rely on fast routing of photonic qubits.
• Build performance profiles and derive system metrics using modelling tools;
• Design and develop software tools that support the design, analysis, and tracking of evolving system architectures.
• Work closely with teams across hardware, manufacturing, and architecture to ensure models reflect real system constraints.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Physics with a strong background in quantum information theory, quantum computing, or quantum communication networks.
• Experience working with stabilizer states or ZX-calculus;
• Proficiency in Python and experience with scientific computing.
• At least three years of experience in software development and system modelling.
• Ability to collaborate across teams, sites, and time zones;
• Hands-on mindset with the ability to take ownership of technical challenges.
• Familiarity with collaborative development platforms such as GitLab is helpful.

Benefits and Instructions:

• U.S. base pay range: $115,000 to $140,000 per year.
• Bay Area range: $140,000 to $170,000 per year;
• Compensation depends on qualifications, location, and experience.
