System Development Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: System Development Engineer - Quantum Engineering, AWS CQC. Location: San Francisco, Los Angeles County, CA, USA

These systems support large-scale HPC applications and provide engineers with tools to accelerate quantum processor development; The role focuses on infrastructure automation, system reliability, and enabling scalable fault-tolerant quantum computing research.

Duties:

• Administer and maintain cloud-based HPC environments, including deploying clusters, provisioning user accounts, managing operating systems, and securing systems.
• Automate workflows, build and deploy containers, and debug system issues;
• Support computer-aided engineering users by improving HPC system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with partner teams and software developers to manage data across clusters and improve service integration;
• Anticipate computational resource needs to support scalable quantum hardware simulation and accelerate design cycles.
• Expand HPC capabilities for modeling and simulation of fault-tolerant quantum computers.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in systems engineering, networking, storage systems, or operating systems.
• Experience automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure;
• Programming experience with Python or other modern languages such as C++, Java, Ruby, Go, C#, or Rust.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps context;
• Preferred experience with HPC software application development and managing shared-user HPC environments.
