Job Description
Job Title: Cybersecurity Engineer. Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Responsibilities:
- Triage and analyze alerts from the MDR provider and follow up with affected users through resolution.
- Act as the initial responder for all cybersecurity incidents.
- Create detailed incident reports and track follow-up action items.
- Conduct cybersecurity awareness sessions for employees.
- Conduct application security audits and implement required security controls;
- Develop scripts across Linux, Windows, and macOS to automate patching of reported CVEs without disrupting user workflows.
- Collaborate with internal teams to update existing cybersecurity policies and establish new policies.
- Participate in creating and validating Disaster Recovery procedures through tabletop and DR exercises.
- Research and evaluate applications and solutions with the IT team to strengthen the company's cybersecurity posture.
Qualifications:
- BSc in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a cybersecurity or IT role.
- Experience drafting policies relevant to cybersecurity frameworks.
- Hands-on scripting experience with Linux or Python.
- Experience with a major cloud provider, preferably AWS;
- Security-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and frequent context-switching.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in security operations, incident response, vulnerability assessments, and network architecture design.
- Basic knowledge of Windows PowerShell.
- Experience working in a startup environment and handling multiple responsibilities.
- Experience creating CI/CD pipelines for automation.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Base salary range of CAD $80,000 to $100,000 per year.
- Base salary is determined based on location, experience, and internal benchmarks.
