Job Description
Job Title: Staff Data Scientist – Decision Intelligence. Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Responsibilities:
- Lead the vision and development of a unified decision intelligence platform for research and operations
- Build AI and machine learning solutions to identify patterns, anomalies, and insights from complex experimental data
- Integrate heterogeneous data sources into unified analytical views
- Design intelligent data exploration experiences beyond traditional business intelligence dashboards
- Define analytical requirements, success metrics, and platform roadmap;
- Provide technical leadership to data engineers and data analysts
- Improve product adoption by understanding user workflows and continuously enhancing the platform
- Work closely with engineering, research, and leadership teams to support strategic decision-making
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field
- At least 7 years of experience in data science or applied machine learning
- Experience building production-ready data products and analytical platforms;
- Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, Bayesian inference, time-series analysis, anomaly detection, and dimensionality reduction
- Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, Spark, or similar data science technologies
- Experience integrating multiple data sources into scalable analytical systems
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders
- Experience mentoring or leading junior data scientists or analysts
Preferred:
- Master's or PhD in a quantitative discipline
- Experience in hardware, semiconductors, photonics, electrical engineering, or advanced manufacturing
- Knowledge of knowledge graphs, semantic data models, or complex data ontologies
- Experience with signal processing, control theory, deep learning, optimization, or active learning
- Experience with simulation workflows and their data outputs;
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and data pipeline orchestration
- Experience with LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or AI agents for analytics
- Familiarity with quantum computing or photonic integrated circuits
