Deployment Physicist, Installation

Job Description

Job Title: Deployment Physicist, Global On-premises Installation. Location: Tokyo, Japan

Responsibilities:

• Lead installation of Helios quantum systems, including shipment preparation, relocation, installation, and validation
• Develop and improve deployment plans, workflows, and technical documentation
• Act as the subject matter expert in atomic physics and qubit operations during system deployment
• Perform integration and validation of systems before global deployment;
• Provide remote and on-site support for deployed systems worldwide
• Collaborate with global teams to ensure successful system performance and customer satisfaction
• Contribute to future on-premises quantum hardware deployments beyond Helios;
• Travel internationally for deployments up to 3 months at a time and 25% otherwise

Qualifications:

• PhD completed in Physics, Quantum Computing, or related field
• Minimum 8 years of experience in atomic physics or quantum computing roles
• Eligibility for international travel;
• Must meet U.S. national security requirements regarding restricted nationalities

Preferred:

• Deep expertise in trapped-ion quantum systems and high-performance quantum hardware
• Experience in hardware integration, validation, and system deployment;
• Experience with lasers, laser cooling, atom trapping, cryogenics, and ultra-high vacuum systems
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience in data analysis and physical modeling
• Experience with laboratory hardware control and electronics systems
• Proven research or product development track record
• Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills
