Director of Software

Job Description

Job Title: Director of Software. Location: London or Cambridge, United Kingdom / Broomfield, Colorado, USA

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the roadmap for the quantum software stack, including front-end languages, compilers, applications, and laboratory software
• Oversee the architecture and development of a scalable developer platform for quantum applications
• Lead, mentor, and grow teams of software engineers, researchers, and developers across the US and UK;
• Collaborate with technical leaders to implement scalable, high-performance quantum software solutions
• Partner with hardware, theory, product, and commercial teams to align software capabilities with customer and business needs
• Direct the complete software development lifecycle from planning and design to release and documentation
• Monitor advancements in quantum computing and software engineering to maintain technical leadership
• Travel between US and UK offices as required

Qualifications:

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Quantum Computing, Physics, or a related field
• At least 10 years of software engineering experience
• At least 5 years of leadership or management experience in quantum computing, high-performance computing, or advanced software platforms
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, compiler design, and cloud technologies
• Familiarity with quantum computing frameworks;
• Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills
