Electrical Engineer, Control Systems

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer, Control Systems. Location: Berkeley, CA, USA

You will collaborate with engineers and physicists to advance low-noise mixed-signal design & support the integration of control electronics critical to scalable quantum computing.

Duties:

• Work with internal and external teams to define and document detailed system requirements.
• Design and layout circuit boards containing digital, analog, and RF components.
• Create and execute test plans using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers.
• Support other teams by troubleshooting and improving electronic control systems;
• Conduct analog design and simulation using SPICE or equivalent tools.
• Develop and verify designs through the full product cycle, from concept to manufacturing and testing.
• Implement FPGA-based designs and signal processing workflows where applicable;
• Use Python scripting for automation, data analysis, and testing support.

Qualifications:

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to operate lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and VNAs.
• Demonstrated success in taking designs from initial concept through final test and production;
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple technical disciplines.
• Experience with analog design and signal processing concepts such as convolution, cross-correlation, and Nyquist zones.
• Familiarity with FPGA development using Verilog or VHDL;
• Knowledge of RF design, testing methods, and low-noise circuit design techniques.

Benefits and Instructions:

• Salary range: $165,000–$215,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and location.
