Job Description
Job Title: Junior Fabrication Engineer. Location: Garching, Germany
Responsibilities:
- Execute and optimize fabrication processes for superconducting circuits and error-protected qubit designs, including lithography, deposition, etching, and in-line characterization
- Support process stability and yield improvement through systematic data collection and analysis
- Assist in adapting experimental fabrication techniques for controlled cleanroom production;
- Collaborate with design, measurement, and system integration teams to ensure smooth progression from wafer fabrication to device testing
- Document fabrication results and analyze data to support continuous process improvements
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and strong relevant experience may also be considered
- Approximately 1 to 2 years of experience, including thesis work, in cleanroom fabrication of superconducting circuits or cryogenic devices
- Experience working safely with solvents, acids, gases, and cleanroom procedures;
- Familiarity with nanofabrication techniques, including e-beam or optical lithography, thin-film deposition (PVD/sputtering), dry and wet etching, and lift-off processes
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical, data-driven approach to process control and documentation
- Eagerness to learn, accept feedback, and grow into a quantum hardware fabrication specialist
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced R&D environment
- Fluent in written and spoken English
