Job Description
Job Title: Nanofabrication Engineer. Location: British Columbia, Canada
Responsibilities:
- Develop fabrication routines and processes for next-generation quantum chips
- Perform semiconductor device fabrication including ion implantation, lithography, plasma processing, material deposition, wafer thinning, dicing, and packaging
- Develop thin-film deposition and growth techniques using PVD, CVD, and MBE methods
- Build and optimize novel hybrid wafer stack processes
- Execute precision device processing with high reproducibility and yield;
- Perform detailed device characterization using advanced measurement tools
- Script or modify data analysis code for fabrication and characterization workflows
- Maintain accurate process documentation and operating procedures
- Write analysis reports and communicate findings to cross-functional teams
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, suppliers, and technical teams;
- Contribute to solving complex engineering challenges and support intellectual property development
Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong hands-on experience in semiconductor device fabrication;
- Experience with characterization tools such as SEM, TEM, XPS, XRD, FIB, and SIMS
- Experience with optical and electron-beam lithography systems
- Experience with wafer bonding and thin-film transfer techniques
- Experience using data analysis tools such as MATLAB or Python;
- Experience in micro/nanofabrication research or R&D environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary environment
Preferred:
- Experience with silicon photonics or Optical MEMS fabrication
- Knowledge of superconducting thin-film materials;
- Experience with crystalline material growth using CVD methods
- Experience with layout data preparation and processing software
