Photon Source Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Photon Source Engineer. Location: Daresbury, England, United Kingdom

Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain computational tools for modeling photon-pair sources
• Model and optimize nonlinear optical systems using experimental measurements for validation
• Collaborate with device designers to improve photon source performance;
• Generate technical reports based on experimental findings to guide future technology development
• Design new experimental techniques for photon source and material characterization
• Evaluate the impact of photon source performance on large-scale photonic quantum systems and identify key technology gaps

Qualifications:

• PhD in Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Strong experimental and theoretical background in integrated optics and nonlinear device characterization
• Proficiency in Python for experiment automation and data analysis;
• Experience using COMSOL or Lumerical to model complex optical systems
• Hands-on experience with advanced optical measurement setups
• Experience with photonic device fabrication is beneficial for design decisions

Benefits And Compensation:

• Annual salary of £60,000 to £71,000

Other Information:

• Experience with quantum optics, nonlinear optical systems, and integrated photonic materials is desirable
• Experience leading technical projects and applying computational approaches is valued
• Knowledge of Mathematica is beneficial but not required
