Quantum Architecture Scientist

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Architecture Scientist. Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

The position combines advanced research, simulation, and collaboration with hardware teams to advance Xanadu’s quantum computing technology.

Duties:

• Design and simulate the physical and quantum optics layer of a photonic quantum computer.
• Investigate methods for preparing bosonic qubits and cluster states;
• Develop new theoretical frameworks and numerical tools for quantum simulations.
• Analyze physical sources of noise and provide solutions for error mitigation.
• Collaborate with experimental and hardware teams to support demos and prototypes.
• Conduct research and simulations to optimize system performance;
• Communicate findings through papers, presentations, and collaboration with team members.

Qualifications:

• MSc or PhD in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• Expertise in theoretical quantum optics and/or bosonic qubit theory.
• Strong Python programming skills for research or project development;
• Experience using numerical techniques for solving research problems.
• Excellent communication skills demonstrated through papers, presentations, or teaching.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment;
• Preferred: postdoctoral or industry experience in quantum physics or technology, deep understanding of Gaussian quantum optics, continuous variable quantum computing, tensor networks, high-performance computing, and collaborative software development experience.
