R&D Scientist, Quantum Algorithms

Job Description

Job Title: R&D Scientist, Quantum Algorithms. Location: London or Cambridge, United Kingdom

Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop quantum algorithms for solving differential equations
  • Apply quantum algorithms to real-world scientific and industrial problems
  • Contribute to resource estimation and implementation of quantum primitives on quantum hardware
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and quantum error correction teams to translate theoretical advances into experiments on real quantum processors
  • Work on research areas including quantum simulation, adiabatic quantum computing, quantum singular value transformation, Gibbs state preparation, variational quantum algorithms, and partial differential equations;
  • Apply classical algorithm design approaches such as neural networks, tensor networks, quantum Monte Carlo, or exact diagonalization where appropriate
  • Support research collaborations with academic and industry partners to develop quantum solutions for partial differential equations
  • Publish research in leading scientific journals and present findings at international conferences

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience in quantum algorithms and their practical applications

Preferred:

  • Strong publication record in a relevant research field
  • Experience with partial differential equations or quantum chemistry
  • Experience implementing quantum algorithms
  • Programming experience using Python and related development tools
  • Interest in fault-tolerant computing and quantum error correction;
  • Interest in end-to-end resource estimation for quantum algorithms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
