Research Scientist, Quantum Error Correction

Job Description

Job Title: Research Scientist, Quantum Error Correction, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, California, USA, or Los Angeles, California, USA. Applicants can indicate their preferred location.

Responsibilities:

• Develop new quantum error correction codes that achieve high encoding rates, greater code distances, or hardware-efficient layouts.

• Research Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes and yoked encoding schemes.

• Adapt error correction circuits to hardware connectivity constraints, including slower or less reliable entangling links between chips.

• Analyze fault-tolerant circuits for syndrome measurements and logical operations;

• Develop and evaluate higher-accuracy decoding algorithms for high-connectivity quantum codes.

• Simulate quantum codes under different noise models and evaluate their performance.

• Develop quantum error correction schemes for superconducting qubits and modular quantum computing architectures;

• Share and publish research findings through internal projects and collaborations with partner universities and technical institutes worldwide.

Qualifications:

• PhD in a quantum computing-related field, such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Research publication experience in quantum error correction.

• Ability to develop and analyze quantum codes, circuits, and error correction methods.

Preferred:

• At least one year of experience owning and initiating research agendas.

• Experience with quantum error correction for superconducting qubits and high-connectivity platforms.

• Knowledge of LDPC codes, logical gates, syndrome measurement, and fault-tolerant quantum computing.

• Experience simulating quantum codes under noise models and evaluating decoding performance.

Benefits and Compensation:

• Annual base salary: $147,000 to $210,000 USD.

• Target bonus: 15%.
