Senior Quantum Field Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantum Field Engineer. Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Responsibilities:

• Explain IonQ’s quantum computing strategy, portfolio, and applications to prospective clients and answer technical questions
• Lead client discussions and map business needs into quantum algorithms and real-world applications;
• Work with internal teams to build and execute proof-of-concepts and move ideas into production workflows
• Translate client requirements into technical projects and collaborate with product and engineering teams
• Share customer insights to improve products and solutions
• Handle competitive objections and guide clients through decision-making
• Create technical assets and materials to explain product features and use cases
• Lead discovery sessions to identify business use cases for quantum solutions;
• Partner with marketing, developer relations, and business teams to grow awareness
• Attend conferences, support booth activities, and engage with clients
• Travel domestically and globally as required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or STEM fields such as Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in customer-facing technical roles;
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics clearly
• Strong interest in quantum applications and emerging technologies

Preferred:

• Master’s or PhD in a STEM field
• Experience working with customers across industries and leadership exposure
• Hands-on experience with Qiskit, Cirq, or similar quantum SDKs
• Proficiency in Python and Jupyter Notebooks;
• Strong system architecture and full-stack technical understanding
• Experience leading technical events or workshops
