Job Description

Job Title: Software Development Engineer Internship - Amazon Leo, Summer 2026 (US). Location: United States (multiple locations including CA, WA, NY, TX, MA, and others; preference-based, not guaranteed)

Job Type: Internship (Full-time, Summer 2026, 12 weeks)

This internship gives students the chance to work on real-world software systems, contribute to scalable cloud services, and see their code impact millions of users; Interns work in a fast-paced environment where learning, ownership, and customer-focused innovation are core values.

Duties:

• Design, build, and operate scalable software services in a distributed cloud environment.
• Develop clean, maintainable code using modern programming languages and best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and documentation efforts.
• Build fault-tolerant and cost-effective systems using microservices and cloud-native designs.
• Use AI and GenAI-powered tools to improve development productivity;
• Work in an agile environment with CI/CD pipelines and operational responsibilities.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues to ensure system reliability.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, managers, and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
• Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for a full 12-week internship;
• Expected graduation date between October 2026 and September 2029.
• Prior internship or project experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, databases, version control, and debugging tools is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and learning skills.
• Must meet U.S. export control eligibility requirements.

Benefits and Instructions:

• Hourly pay ranges from $47.84 to $88.94 depending on location and experience.
