Job Description
Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, (Compiler). Location: Los Angeles, California, United States (Hybrid)
You will work closely with engineering, research, product, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable and scalable quantum control software used across defense, research, and industrial applications.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services using Python
- Maintain and evolve the compiler stack translating OpenQASM and OpenPulse programs into low-level quantum controller instructions
- Bridge research and production engineering by converting experimental requirements into robust, production-ready software
- Validate compiler output by running experiments directly on quantum processing units;
- Engineer high-performance service-to-service communication using modern APIs and protocols
- Help define software architecture, tools, and best practices for next-generation quantum control platforms
- Perform other duties aligned with skills and experience, with reasonable training when required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5 or more years of backend software development experience
- Strong experience developing backend systems in Python;
- Experience with quantum hardware control systems or pulse-level programming
- Familiarity with Python web frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI
Preferred:
- Knowledge of compiler theory or formal language design
- Experience accelerating Python using systems languages such as C++
- Exposure to FPGA programming, real-time systems, or low-latency computing
Benefits and Compensation:
- Base salary range of $135,000 to $210,000, depending on skills, experience, and location
