Job Description

Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, Compute Infrastructure. Location: Berkeley, CA, USA

This role connects modern cloud infrastructure with on-site quantum hardware, creating an integrated system that supports global research and commercial clients; The position offers an opportunity to collaborate closely with quantum engineers and physicists to enhance Rigetti’s Quantum Compute Platform.

Duties:

• Develop and deploy production software using Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and AWS.
• Design and implement hybrid computing architectures that securely connect partners to Rigetti’s QPUs across multiple sites.
• Collaborate with quantum engineering and control systems teams to support infrastructure needs;
• Lead discussions on architecture and translate them into reliable, scalable production code;
• Improve and automate existing systems for deployment, testing, and monitoring;
• Promote a culture of precision, reliability, and continuous improvement within software and quantum teams.
• Build tools and services that support partners such as Fermilab, ORNL, DoE, Amazon Braket, and Microsoft Azure Quantum.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in production infrastructure across different environments.
• Strong skills in Kubernetes and configuration automation tools such as Terraform, Chef, Ansible, or Puppet.
• Deep knowledge of AWS architecture and components;
• Proven ability to design, document, and test production-grade systems.
• Background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Physics preferred.
• Experience building SDKs or microservice architectures is a plus;
• Familiarity with quantum computing or related technologies is advantageous.

• Salary range: $165,000–$230,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
