Staff Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Staff Embedded Software Engineer. Location: Sydney, Australia

Responsibilities:

• Own the design, development, integration, and support of embedded systems for quantum sensing and navigation on Xilinx SoC platforms
• Design, implement, and test control, sensing, and actuation firmware for autonomous operation of next-generation quantum sensors;
• Act as a technical lead and architect in cross-functional teams of scientists and engineers to solve research and product development challenges
• Contribute to the success of field trials with industry partners
• Create test and simulation setups including hardware-in-the-loop test fixtures
• Perform other duties within the employee’s skills and experience, or with reasonable training

Qualifications:

• Strong experience with hardware description languages (System Verilog/Verilog/VHDL)
• Proficiency in digital signal processing implementation on FPGA
• Experience in a research environment collaborating with engineering teams and scientists
• Experience as a technical lead or domain expert in cross-functional teams;
• Proficiency with a systems programming language such as C, C++, or Rust
• Experience creating embedded Linux distributions using tools like Buildroot, Yocto, or Petalinux
• Desirable experience interfacing embedded systems with FPGAs (e.g., JESD204, AXI interfaces)
• Preference for candidates with experience qualifying or deploying systems for use in aircraft
