Vertical Sales Lead

Job Description

Job Location: Remote, United States

This role focuses on helping enterprises in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, telecom, energy, and oil and gas realize the business value of quantum computing through SaaS & professional service solutions.

Duties:

  • Execute D-Wave’s sales strategy to expand new business in assigned vertical markets across the Americas.
  • Lead sales initiatives for quantum optimization and cloud-based quantum SaaS solutions.
  • Build and mentor account teams to achieve sales goals and deliver customer value;
  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities and understand customer use cases for quantum optimization.
  • Build strong relationships with decision makers and influencers within targeted industries.
  • Lead demand generation and pipeline-building efforts with the marketing and business development teams.
  • Represent D-Wave at industry events, conferences, and seminars to promote products and solutions.
  • Develop and manage RFI/RFP responses, customer proposals, and business cases;
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with customer procurement and legal departments.
  • Work with technical teams to define and deliver solutions that meet customer needs;
  • Achieve and exceed individual and team sales quotas while maintaining accurate forecasts.

Qualifications:

  • Over 15 years of experience selling enterprise SaaS or optimization-related software in markets such as data analytics, life sciences, or energy.
  • Proven success in growing software bookings from initial customer stages to multi-million-dollar yearly revenues.
  • Experience with classical optimization tools like ILOG CPLEX, Gurobi, or similar;
  • Strong network among enterprise clients, system integrators, and software vendors.
  • Background in Operations Research, engineering, or computer science preferred;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Self-motivated, customer-focused, and capable of leading complex sales cycles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field required; Master’s preferred.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across the Americas.

  • Annual salary range: $144,428–$268,223, depending on experience and location.
  • Compensation includes base pay, equity, bonus, and comprehensive benefits;
