Controller (Hybrid)

Job Description

Job Title: Controller (Hybrid). Location: Not specified (Xanadu HQ is in Toronto, Canada)

You will manage the company’s financial operations, lead reporting, budgeting, and compliance, and support the strategic direction of the organization.

Duties:

• Manage daily financial operations, including transactions, bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, and all accounting processes.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all financial transactions.
• Oversee month-end closing, journal entries, reconciliations, cost allocations, FX translation, and investor reporting.
• Maintain accounting policy compliance with relevant standards such as GAAP and IFRS;
• Support the creation and monitoring of annual budgets, analyze budget vs. actual variances, and provide financial forecasts.
• Lead the annual audit and ensure compliance with all tax laws and government regulations.
• Supervise preparation and filing of tax returns and other financial documentation.
• Design and implement internal controls to ensure financial integrity and security;
• Recommend process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
• Manage company cash flow, liquidity, and FX strategies to support long-term stability.

Qualifications:

• Accounting designation (CPA) required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, including at least 1 year in a Controller-level position.
• Deep understanding of financial regulations and accounting standards;
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and data analysis;
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or equivalent.
• Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

• Previous work in a start-up or agile business environment.
• Strong experience managing month-end close processes;
• Hands-on experience implementing or working with accounting and ERP systems.
• A proactive and adaptable attitude, ready to assist wherever needed.
