Job Description

Job Title: Senior Manager, Quantum Applications - Sweden Site Manager. Location: Gothenburg (Göteborg), Västra Götaland, Sweden

You will guide teams that turn advanced research into hybrid quantum solutions delivered through cloud platforms and customer workflows.

Duties:

• Lead the IonQ quantum applications development center in Gothenburg and establish a strong culture of innovation and customer success.
• Build, hire, and manage a highly skilled applications and R&D team across Sweden and the Nordics.
• Develop and deliver hybrid quantum solutions for customers across industries such as chemistry, finance, optimization, and life sciences.
• Partner with customers to define strategies and long-term roadmaps for adopting quantum computing.
• Drive discovery of new algorithms, computational models, and core intellectual property;
• Coordinate with product, sales, marketing, and operations teams to bring solutions to market.
• Support co-design efforts between application teams and quantum hardware teams.
• Represent IonQ at academic, industry, and regional events and conferences.
• Identify new business models and commercial opportunities enabled by quantum computing.

Qualifications:

• 12+ years of experience in technical R&D focused on algorithms or computational applications.
• 5+ years of experience leading deeply technical teams delivering customer-facing solutions.
• 4+ years of experience leading consultative customer engagements;
• Strong understanding of quantum computing capabilities and hybrid quantum solutions.
• Proven record of technical leadership through deployed solutions, patents, publications, or licenses.
• Experience building and scaling solution-driven businesses.;
• PhD in chemistry, computer science, engineering, physics, or a related field is preferred.
• Domain expertise in areas such as computational chemistry, biopharma, or optimization is a strong plus.
