AI Specialist - Applied ML Research

Job Description

Job Title: AI Specialist - Applied ML Research. Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Develop representation learning, reinforcement learning, and generative learning strategies for research data
  • Build and implement ML-based optimization methods for hardware and software systems
  • Analyze structured and unstructured R&D data to identify trends and insights;
  • Improve internal research workflows using advanced AI and machine learning techniques
  • Collaborate with researchers, engineers, scientists, and software developers on ML-driven solutions
  • Maintain reproducible workflows for modeling, simulation, and data analysis;
  • Support quantum hardware research through optimization, simulation, and AI-enhanced tooling
  • Integrate state-of-the-art ML developments into internal R&D systems and platforms

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of industry experience in AI, ML, deep learning, data science, optimization, simulation software, or control systems
  • Strong experience with Python and scientific computing ecosystems such as JAX, NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch, CUDA, SciPy, and Scikit-learn
  • Deep understanding of machine learning, mathematics, optimization, linear algebra, and statistics
  • Experience with GPU programming and CUDA;
  • Experience with software development workflows including version control, testing, CI/CD, debugging, and documentation
  • Comfortable working with Linux, Docker, Git, and GitHub
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred:

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
  • Experience with reinforcement learning, generative modeling, representation learning, or geometric deep learning
  • Experience training large-scale neural networks or commercial-grade LLMs
  • Experience building simulators for physical systems and control systems;
  • Familiarity with quantum computing concepts and technologies
  • Experience in HPC simulation, computer vision, signal analysis, or GFlowNet systems

  • Base salary range of CAD 140,000 to CAD 190,000
