Job Description

Job Title: PhD Research Intern, Quantum and AI for Chemistry - 2027. Location: Toronto, Canada

Responsibilities:

• Advance the state of the art in AI-driven quantum algorithms, generative models for chemistry, self-driving laboratories, or agentic AI systems.
• Develop quantum algorithms at the intersection of artificial intelligence and many-body physics models such as quantum chemistry.
• Develop generative models for chemistryl
• Develop robotics capabilities for self-driving laboratories.
• Develop agentic AI systems for computational chemistry.
• Present research findings at relevant scientific, technical, and industry conferences.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Background in Quantum Information Science or AI for chemistry.
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: quantum chemistry, quantum machine learning, applied quantum algorithms, robotics for self-driving laboratories, generative models for chemistry, or computational agentic frameworks;l
• Graduate-level research experience in one or more of these areas.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and value propositions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred:

• Background in GPU computing.
• Experience developing software systems.
• Experience with machine learning methods.
• Experience scaling or optimizing large-scale AI models.
• Hands-on experience in scientific computing, high-performance computing, applied machine learning, or deep learning.

• Internship compensation is CAD $77 to $99 per hour.
