Job Description

Job Title: PhD Research Intern, Quantum Simulation and AI - 2027. Location: Santa Clara, California, USA

Job Type: Full-time Internship

Responsibilities:

• Research and develop creative algorithms and software systems for the quantum computing ecosystem.
• Explore research areas including bespoke quantum representations, tensor network methods, quantum surrogate modeling, quantum inverse design, and automated proving for quantum systems;
• Collaborate with research and product teams working in machine learning, programming systems, and quantum computing.
• Publish and present original research at conferences and other events.
• Collaborate with external quantum computing researchers.
• Run large-scale experiments on GPU clusters to advance quantum computing simulation.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a PhD in Quantum Physics or a related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant research experience in quantum computing.
• Strong research record with well-referenced publications and/or patents;
• Strong foundation in linear algebra and mathematics for quantum computing.
• Expertise in tensor algebraic methods.
• Experience with Python and ideally CUDA.
• Experience with commonly used machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Benefits and Compensation:

• Internship hourly rate of $38 to $94 USD, depending on position, location, year in school, degree, and experience.
