Job Description

Job Title: Internship Resume Submission. Location: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

Interns will gain hands-on experience across hardware, software, and quantum algorithm projects, supporting the mission to build a system with fault-tolerant error correction and a scalable architecture using silicon photonics; Projects may include work in test and validation labs, software development, data science and quantum applications.

Duties:

• Support engineering, computer science, and data science projects.
• Perform technical and scientific tasks, including testing and trialling solutions in lab operations.
• Develop short case studies, research reports, and presentations;
• Provide feedback to product and technical teams.
• Contribute to ongoing research in quantum algorithms, software, and hardware;
• Collaborate with mentors and team members to enhance practical skills and project outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Students, graduates, or early-career professionals in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, Physics, Mathematics, or related fields;
• Experience in research projects at Honours, Masters, or PhD level is a plus.
• Basic understanding of quantum computing concepts is beneficial but not required.
• Strong communication skills and attention to user experience;
• Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Benefits and Instructions:

• Internship duration ranges from 5 weeks during semester breaks up to 6 months for longer-term projects.
• Most internships are based in Brisbane, with possible remote options within Australia depending on the project;
• Hourly rates: Master’s students AUD 37–41 per hour (~$77,000–$85,500 annualized); PhD students AUD 40–43 per hour (~$83,200–$89,500 annualized).
