Quantum Architecture Scientist - Decoding

Job Title: Quantum Architecture Scientist - Decoding. Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of the Quantum Architecture team on quantum error correction for a photonic quantum computer.
• Focus on decoding methods for quantum error-correcting codes.
• Develop and implement decoding algorithms, particularly message-passing algorithms such as belief propagation and its variants.
• Work with classical and quantum error-correcting code constructions;
• Apply strong mathematical knowledge to quantum error correction and decoding problems.
• Manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced research environment.

Qualifications:

• MSc or PhD in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience with classical and quantum error-correcting code constructions.
• Expertise in the theory and implementation of decoding algorithms for quantum error-correcting codes.
• Strong expertise in message-passing algorithms, especially belief propagation and its variants.
• Demonstrated programming skills, with GitHub or similar work included on the CV;
• Familiarity with version control software such as Git.
• Strong knowledge of mathematics.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Preferred:

• PhD, postdoctoral, or industry experience in quantum physics or quantum technology.
• Exposure to FPGAs or ASICs.
• Exposure to C/C++.
• Expertise with Julia, preferably, or Python.
• Experience decoding both CSS and non-CSS quantum error-correcting codes.

Salary and Benefits:

• Base salary: CAD 120,000 to CAD 140,000 per year.
• Salary is determined based on location, experience, and internal benchmarks.
• Eligible for equity and benefits.
