Job Description

Job Title: Lead Quantum Engineer, Systems Performance. Location: Berkeley, California, USA

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and lead cross-functional experimental programs that inform the technical roadmap and drive system-level improvements.
• Propose and explore new technical directions for improving the performance and scalability of superconducting qubit systems.
• Design and execute experiments to test new technical ideas.
• Identify and address complex gaps in existing quantum hardware technology;
• Lead engineers and scientists in identifying and mitigating key performance gaps.
• Take ownership of delivering critical quantum hardware technologies.
• Contribute to the development of next-generation quantum hardware and technologies required for performance at scale.
• Collaborate across teams to support technical development and execution.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Prior technical experience in an industry or startup environment.
• Demonstrated technical leadership experience;
• Direct experience with cryogenic systems and RF measurement techniques.
• Extensive hands-on experience with time-domain measurements and superconducting quantum devices.
• Demonstrated accomplishments in quantum science or related fields.
• Working knowledge of Python.
• Strong teamwork and inter-team collaboration skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred:

• Strong coding skills.
• Familiarity with cQED simulation tools.
