Quantum Systems Test Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantum Systems Test Engineer. Location: British Columbia, Canada (Onsite)

Responsibilities:

  • Design, engineer, and execute testing and benchmarking procedures for Photonic quantum computers.
  • Develop scalable code to interface with distributed quantum hardware systems.
  • Build and maintain automated testing suites that evaluate functionality, performance, stability, and scalability.
  • Diagnose system-level problems and create solutions to ensure reliable operation of complex quantum systems.
  • Explore new testing strategies to support debugging and improve system performance;
  • Suggest improvements to both hardware and software based on system-level insights.
  • Support troubleshooting activities across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate closely with scientists, engineers, and business teams to solve technical challenges;
  • Contribute to test coverage metrics, quality gates, and release criteria for internal milestones and customer deliveries.
  • Communicate complex technical problems and solutions clearly to technical and non-technical teams.

Qualifications:

  • MSc or PhD in quantum information, physics, or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience working with quantum technologies or complex systems.
  • Experience executing jobs on quantum hardware platforms such as superconducting, ion trap, neutral atom, spin, defect-based, or photonic systems.
  • Strong programming ability, especially in Python, and experience working with shared code repositories.
  • Experience controlling complex and sensitive laboratory instrumentation;
  • Experience building automation systems for measurements and generating reports.
  • Strong systems engineering mindset with the ability to solve problems in uncertain environments.
  • Excellent analytical and debugging skills with the ability to investigate difficult system issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across different teams;
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills when working with multidisciplinary groups.
