Job Description
Job Title: Senior Assembly Technician. Location: British Columbia, Canada
Responsibilities:
- Assemble, integrate, and verify complete 19-inch rack and multi-rack quantum control systems
- Work with MicroTCA assemblies, custom optical, microwave, and detector control hardware
- Install power distribution, grounding, cooling interfaces, and system interconnects
- Route, label, and secure RF, microwave, optical fiber, analog, and digital cabling;
- Ensure mechanical integrity, build quality, serviceability, and consistency across systems
- Perform controlled power-up, sequencing, and basic bring-up checks
- Partner with Hardware Controls, Logistics, and other Operations teams for smooth integration
- Provide feedback during design reviews for assembly, serviceability, and manufacturability
- Execute builds using travelers, rack layouts, wiring diagrams, and documentation
- Refine and improve assembly processes and documentation for repeatable builds;
- Support onboarding, mentoring, and workflow development for new assembly technicians
- Troubleshoot mechanical, cabling, and integration issues
- Assist with installation in laboratory and cryogenic environments
Qualifications:
- Seven or more years of hands-on experience in electronics, electromechanical, or system-level assembly
- Experience with 19-inch rack systems, telecom, or data center infrastructure
- Proven ability to own full-rack or multi-rack builds
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and high standards for cable management;
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and assembly documentation
- Experience in laboratory, prototype, or production environments with complex hardware systems
- Comfortable providing structured feedback to engineering teams
Preferred:
- Familiarity with MicroTCA, ATCA, PXI, or similar modular hardware platforms
- Experience with PLM and ERP systems (Arena, Oracle Netsuite)
- Knowledge of AC power systems and EMI considerations
- Experience assembling or integrating custom optical and microwave hardware
- Handling RF, microwave, and optical fiber interconnects;
- Exposure to cryogenic systems, scientific instrumentation, or physics-driven hardware
- Participation in design-for-manufacturing or design reviews
