Job Description
Job title: Semiconductor Material Science Research Scientist. Location: London, UK
Responsibilities:
- Execute and analyze advanced computational simulations, including Density Functional Theory (DFT), Density Functional Perturbation Theory (DFPT), and molecular dynamics (MD), to predict semiconductor properties.
- Predict key properties such as band gaps, defect levels, leakage currents, dielectric constants, and interfacial properties.
- Apply physical and chemical principles to understand atomic-scale structure-property relationships and semiconductor interfaces;
- Identify promising semiconductor materials through computational tools and collaborate with experimental researchers to synthesize and validate them in the laboratory.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Computational Materials Science, Solid-State Chemistry, Condensed Matter Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Technical experience with first-principles simulation methods, including DFT and DFPT.
- Programming experience, such as Python, for workflow management, data analysis, and tool automation.
- Experience using computational materials science packages such as VASP, Quantum ESPRESSO, or similar tools.
Preferred:
- Experience developing or applying machine learning models to predict materials properties.
- Experience with high-throughput computational workflows and running simulations on high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with molecular dynamics packages such as LAMMPS.
- Demonstrated ability to connect computational predictions with experimental discoveries.
