Senior Engineering & NPI Buyer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Engineering & NPI Buyer. Location: Milpitas, California, United States

You will support new product introduction activities, negotiate with suppliers, manage delivery issues and ensure that materials arrive on time to keep engineering and manufacturing work on schedule.

Duties:

• Purchase engineering and NPI materials, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, equipment, and services to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
• Review purchase requests for compliance with internal procedures before issuing purchase orders.
• Monitor shipments, resolve late deliveries, and maintain clear communication with suppliers and internal teams.
• Evaluate suppliers based on quality, reliability, pricing, service, and production capacity;
• Support sourcing strategies that improve cost, shorten lead times, and strengthen supply stability.
• Prepare reports and updates related to purchasing, supplier performance, and material status.
• Work closely with the supply chain team to improve service, quality, and cost.
• Manage RFQs, RFPs, and formal sourcing requests;
• Build and maintain supplier relationships with consistent and clear communication.
• Perform data analysis to understand performance trends and support supplier qualification.
• Resolve issues connected to pricing, invoicing, delivery, or product quality;
• Support new engineering projects and cross-functional teams on purchasing processes.
• Handle additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
• More than five years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles in a high-tech or R&D environment.
• Strong negotiation and expediting experience with suppliers;
• Ability to manage schedules, projects, and fast-changing priorities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Experience working in a fast-paced start-up or high-growth environment is preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite;
• Knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing tools, and purchasing best practices.

Benefits and Instructions:

• U.S. base salary range: 115,000 to 131,000 dollars.
• Bay Area salary range: 155,000 to 170,000 dollars;
• Actual compensation may vary based on skills, education, experience, and location.
